When I use the :locate command to find things on the file system I press 'b' to make it a pane on the left side and a view pane on the right side to inspect the contents of the file or directory.
If I, in the bufferized locate pane, enter a directory, I have not found out how to get back to the bufferized locate. It seems as if I have entered directory mode and cannot navigate back to the buffer. ctrl-o does not seem to go back in history to the buffer.

Any idea how to jump back to the bufferized version of :locate?

There is no history of custom file lists (although it was suggested once).

The best you can do at this point is to create the buffer again by doing :copen followed by b (this assumes that you didn't open any other menu with file list after leaving :locate menu).
