Vifm + Ueberzug

Question

Hi all, i recently found that its possible to make vifm show preview of currently pointed file with Ueberzug

So i installed it, tried this approach and it didn't work in a way that vifm does now show any images. Firstly i created .scripts/ folder in home directory, added it to $PATH, then throwed vifmimg and vifmrun in it. No luck

Then i downloaded scripts from DistroTube repository (after watching this video) and again -- no success in making previews work.

P.S I tried moving vifmimg and vifmrun to .config/vifm/scripts/ both together and separately

Have you added corresponding fileviewer commands to your vifmrc, made scripts executable and start vifm by running vifmrun? Also, does Ueberzug work for you outside of vifm?

Yes, i did everything as manuals said.

Does :fileviewer img.png run inside vifm lists vifmimg at the top of the list?

Vifm says No viewers match img.png

But i have this lines in ~/.config/vifm/vifmrc

P.S Also i have vifmrc file in ~/.vifm/ folder, and then i changed it to look like on the picture, vifm began to display string from vifmrc file. After i hit enter it returned to normal menu

Delete ~/.vifm/ if you don't use it or start using it. It has higher priority than ~/.config/vifm/. With modified ~/.vifm/vifmrc you probably can view images already (if using wrong configuration file was the only issue).

Thank you! That was mainly the issue. But previews does not change alongside pointer change (is this intended?). Also gif launch freezes vifm and after each e press i get

         File exploring 
      Nothing to explore 
    Press Return to continue

They should if you're using :view.

I think this is fixed in the development version. To work around it, you can try adding echo ' ' to vifmimg.

I see sleep .07in the script, so I guess this is how it works. You can hit Ctrl-C to abort the preview.

the gif preview part is screwing up my image preview when I added it i couldn't see previews anymore

charbel sarkis, have you tried filing an issue for vifmimg? I'm not maintaining it and not using either, so it's hard to provide support for it.
